Building nonredundant adaptive wavelets by update lifting

In this paper, we propose a technique for building adaptive wavelets by means of an extension of the lifting scheme. Our scheme comprises an adaptive update lifting step and a fixed prediction lifting step. The adaptivity consists hereof that the system can choose between two different update filters, and that this choice is triggered by the local gradient of the original signal. If the gradient is large (in some seminorm sense) it chooses one filter, if it is small the other. We derive necessary and sufficient conditions for the invertibility of such an adaptive system for various scenarios. Furthermore, we present some examples to illustrate our theoretical results.

A posteriori H1 error estimation for a singularly perturbed reaction diffusion problem on anisotropic meshes

The paper deals with a singularly perturbed reaction diffusionmodel problem. The focus is on reliable a posteriori error estimatorsfor the H¹ seminorm that can be applied to anisotropic finiteelement meshes. A residual error estimator and a local problemerror estimator are proposed and rigorously analysed. They arelocally equivalent, and both bound the error reliably. Threemodifications of these estimators are introduced and discussed. Much attention is given to the performance of the error estimatorin numerical experiments. This helps to identify those estimatorsthat are suitable for practical applications.

Subspaces of Normed Riesz Spaces

It will be shown that a normed partially ordered vector space is linearly, norm, and order isomorphic to a subspace of a normed Riesz space if and only if its positive cone is closed and its norm p satisfies p(x)p(y) for all x and y with -yxy. A similar characterization of the subspaces of M-normed Riesz spaces is given. With aid of the first characterization, Krein's lemma on directedness of norm dual spaces can be directly derived from the result for normed Riesz spaces. Further properties of the norms ensuing from the characterization theorem are investigated. Also a generalization of the notion of Riesz norm is studied as an analogue of the r-norm from the theory of spaces of operators. Both classes of norms are used to extend results on spaces of operators between normed Riesz spaces to a setting with partially ordered vector spaces. Finally, a partial characterization of the subspaces of Riesz spaces with Riesz seminorms is given.     

A Calculation of the Culler-shalen Seminorms Associated to Small Seifert Dehn Fillings

We determine the relationship between the multiplicities ofthe zeros of certain rational functions defined on the SL₂(C)and PSL₂C character varieties of knot exteriors. More about the kernel convergence and the ideal convergence

Let I 2N be an ideal and let XI = span{χI ： I ∈ I}, and let pI be the quotient norm of l∞/XI. In this paper, we show first that for each proper ideal I 2N, the ideal convergence deduced by I is equivalent to pI-kernel convergence. In addition, let K = {x＊oχ（·） ： x＊∈ p（e）}, where p（x） = lim supn→∞1/n（∑k=1n｜x（k）｜, and let Iμ = {A N ： μ（A） = 0} for all μ = x＊oχ（·） ∈ K. Then Iμ is a proper ideal. We also show that the ideal convergence deduced by the proper ideal Iμ, the p-kernel convergence and the statistical convergence are also equivalent.     

SOME DOUBLE SEQUENCE SPACES OF FUZZY NUMBERS DEFINED BY ORLICZ FUNCTIONS

In this article, we introduce some double sequence spaces of fuzzy real numbers defined by Orlicz function, study some of their properties like solidness, symmetricity, completeness etc, and prove some inclusion results.     

PROPERTIES OF SOME SETS OF SEQUENCES DEFINED BY A MODULUS FUNCTION

In this article, the author introduces the generalized difference paranormed sequence spaces c （△v^m, f, p, q, s）, c0 （△v^m, f, p, q, s）, and l∞ （△v^m, f, p, q, s） defined over a seminormed sequence space （X, q）. The author also studies their properties like completeness, solidity, symmetricitv, etc.     

Quantized Gromov-Hausdorff distance

A quantized metric space is a matrix order unit space equipped with an operator space version of Rieffel's Lip-norm. We develop for quantized metric spaces an operator space version of quantum Gromov-Hausdorff distance. We show that two quantized metric spaces are completely isometric if and only if their quantized Gromov-Hausdorff distance is zero. We establish a completeness theorem. As applications, we show that a quantized metric space with 1-exact underlying matrix order unit space is a limit of matrix algebras with respect to quantized Gromov-Hausdorff distance, and that matrix algebras converge naturally to the sphere for quantized Gromov-Hausdorff distance.
